The Euromax Terminal on the existing Maasvlakte was opened in September 2008. In the future, this terminal will be expanded on Maasvlakte 2. This will make ECT the third client to set up in the new port area. The quay wall will be extended by 1,800 m, so that the quay wall that will ultimately become available will have a total length of 3,600 m. It will have the same depth as the other container terminals on Maasvlakte 2: 20 metres. ECT's Maasvlakte 2 expansion can take place after the first phase of Maasvlakte 2 has been realised and the Yangtzehaven has been cut through. Construction on the quay wall will start in mid-2013. The terminals for APM Terminals and Rotterdam World Gateway will be constructed in the first construction phase of Maasvlakte 2.
The Euromax Terminal that was taken into operation in September 2008 has a total capacity of some 3 million TEU. The terminal is a joint venture of the shipping companies Cosco, 'K'-Line, Yang Ming and Hanjin.
