All roads, bike paths, rail track and pipelines on Maasvlakte 2 will be accommodated in a corridor behind the seawall. This infrastructure will be constructed step-by-step. PUMA will be constructing the infrastructure required to take Maasvlakte 2 into operation in 2013. Examples include the extension of the Betuweroute rail line, the extension of the N15, the construction of parking space near the beach, a secondary road and a bike path. Further expansions will be made depending on the increase in traffic. There is room to develop the primary road into a dual carriageway with flyover junctions.
During the construction of Maasvlakte 2, the contractor will keep an opening in the seawall for as long as possible. This way, PUMA's working ships can directly access the North Sea. Once the opening is closed, the work on the infrastructure will be rounded off.
