Besides the numerous trailing suction hopper dredgers that have been working on Maasvlakte 2, mid-June saw the arrival of the cutter suction dredger Edax. Edax has been set to work on the dredging of the future Prinses Amaliahaven. In the first phase, the port basin will be dredged to a depth of some 17 m. At a later stage, this depth will be increased to 20 m.
In mid-July, the cutter suction dredger Zuiderklip will also be deployed at Maasvlakte 2, dredging free the block dam of the existing Maasvlakte. The blocks from the current block dam will be removed and subsequently re-used in the construction of Maasvlakte 2’s hard seawall.
