First progress report on Rotterdam Mainport Development Project (PMR)

04-11-2007

The Rotterdam Mainport Development Project (PMR) is going according to schedule, according to the first progress report on the project to Parliament. The half-yearly progress report is a way to keep MPs up to speed on the progress of (the component projects of the) PMR.

Overview of developments in autumn 2006
The first progress report offers an overview of developments in the autumn of 2006. The report mainly focuses on the government's activities. It also summarises once again a number of relevant matters which have already been reported on. Subsequent progress reports will devote more attention to the decentralised procedures (like the municipal zoning plan procedures).

An ambitious timetable
The progress report shows that the project is running according to schedule. The follow-up procedures and preparatory activities that have been announced are underway as planned. The timetable continues to be extremely ambitious for the coming years. The most significant risks in the current phase of the project are risks related to planning. The various procedures are complex, are interrelated, and are open to objection and appeal. Active coordination of all follow-up decisions on the Key Planning Decision (PKB) are therefore necessary, Minister for Transport, Public Works and Water Management Camiel Eurlings wrote in the accompanying letter.
