The Port of Rotterdam Authority endorses the position adopted by Ministers Peijs and Dekker in the Ministerial Letter of 5 September relating to the Rotterdam Mainport Development Project:

When it comes to the construction of Maasvlakte 2 and related (nature) projects, the economy, nature and the environment go hand in hand, both nationally and regionally.

The Port of Rotterdam Authority received five proposals from companies and consortiums for a container terminal on Maasvlakte 2*.

The Key Physical Planning Decision (Planologische Kernbeslissing - PKB), in which the government authorities set out the spatial allocation and framework conditions for the Rotterdam Mainport Development Project (Project Mainportontwikkeling Rotterdam - PMR) will be a PKB procedure without a ‘plus'.
