World-class international seaport

As container ships are becoming larger and larger, around the world, container transfer activities are increasingly concentrating in a limited number of major ports with deep waterways and good logistics connections. The Rotterdam port is a world-class port and one of Europe's most important container transfer hubs.

Position within Europe

Within North-western Europe, from Hamburg to Le Havre, the Rotterdam port has a share of some 30% in the container transfer market. The key European container transfer ports, measured in TEU per year, are Rotterdam, Antwerp, Hamburg and Bremen.
