Between 2008 and 2012, PUMA will be realising the first phase of Maasvlakte 2 on behalf of the Port of Rotterdam Authority. Maasvlakte 2's first phase comprises 700 ha of new port area. PUMA will dredge the port basins to a depth of -20 m New Amsterdam Water Level (NAP), so that even the largest container ships can dock here. Another subproject handled by the consortium is the construction of the entire seawall. This will be approximately 11 km long and will consist of a hard and a soft section. PUMA has also been assigned the task of building the quays, roads, rail tracks and bike paths in the new port area.
