On the terrace - Awash in Words |
Ten Rotterdam poets, including Jules Deelder, Carrie, Wilfried de Jong, Rien Vroegindeweij and Daniël Dee, have written a poem (in Dutch) about Maasvlakte 2 and the Rotterdams port. The poets read from their own work. After dialling one of the telephone numbers on ten pillars that surround the terrace of FutureLand, passers-by and visitors to FutureLand can listen to the recitals via their mobile phone. Would you like to listen to the poems from your easy chair? Call +31(0)900-512 12 12.
Maria Barnas' contribution is in English. Her poem can be listened to after selecting option 1 in the menu.
The costs for listening to the poem are 15 cents per minute, not including the costs for the use of your (mobile) telephone. While listening to the poem, you can return to the main menu by pressing the hash key.

Put on your headphones
Would you like to take a moment's break during your visit to FutureLand? That's possible. Enjoying a cup of coffee or strolling along the beach, just put on your headphones and listen to a fascinating story about the many issues involved in creating a new piece of land. A wealth of information, combined with historical facts and imaginative narrative ensure that you will have an enjoyable 45 minutes of listening. Too long? You can also listen to segments of the presentation.
Artist Ilana Halpering (Scotland) was commissioned by the port of Rotterdam Authority/Project Organization Maasvlakte 2 and Foundation Art and Public Space (SKOR) to compile this story. The audio tour can be obtained from the reception desk, with a driving license or similar document serving as a (temporary) security deposit. It is available in Dutch and English.
